The quickest way to measure the performance of a Windows laptop is probably the “Windows Experience Index” which used to be made available in the “system” window, which one can bring up in several ways, such as pressing the Windows key + Pause/Break.

I was curious to see how the two computers performed in comparison, so I asked her to run some benchmarking software while using it and I did the same. I have replaced the slow HDD with a fast SSD Samsung 850 EVO drive.Īs I helped a friend with some computer issues, I noticed that she had a very similar (but lighter) laptop (also Acer with 4GB RAM and same OS) with a less powerful N3060 processor.

I found that only Novabench is worth using.Īs you may recall from my article on buying this so-called new laptop, I have an Acer laptop that’s cheap, heavy and running an i3 processor with 4GB RAM and (mostly) Windows 10 Home. That makies some sense for typical Win 7 installs and indexing etc.I recently had the opportunity to benchmark two very similar Acer computers, differing mostly in the kind of Intel processor they shared. Update: According to our customer the other two system were slow at first but after being used for a day theyre running faster. Boot to audit mode on new system in minutes.

W'ed prefer to deploy a full featured version with features disabled for performance but available if needed in the future or for development by end user.ģ.I'm working on answer file compare concept to compare the 2 templates. Ive seen some good posts here ie prefetching, indexing, defrag, auto updates, auto backup/restore Is there a good list somewere of things to disable in this template for performance?

Speed wise, it just seems these systems are slower and take longer to install on than the previous few we setup. My Boss would like to see us have a "full" install and disable as many features as we can but leave them installed in case they are needed in the future, for dev/prototype systems.
